A Helping Hand
I am hoping that I can reach out to others who would consider joining in my cause and donating blankets to children at the shelter, so that when I finish my Silver Award project, the donations will continue.
My plan is to donate blankets that would go to children, sized for infant through teen. Many sizes are appropriate.
The following are some sizes to use as a guide:
Baby - 30" x 30" or 30" x 36"
Child - 40" x 60"
Teen - 45" x 72"
I'm sure that any type of blanket would be appreciated by the recipients. My donation will include fleece and crocheted blankets. Blankets of all styles, including quilts, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets are welcome. I only request that blankets be new, handmade and washable. In addition, they should come from a smoke-free environment. I ask for homemade blankets because I think that these children would be very touched to know that a stranger would take the time to make something for them. Handmade blankets are from the heart.
I made an initial donation of approximately 30 blankets to the shelter in September 2012. You can continue to make donations to the shelter by contacting the shelter directly and making arrangements to drop off blanket donations. You can reach the office for the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women's Resource Center at 845-628-9284. Or, you can contact me and I would be happy to continue to accept donations and drop them off at the shelter. You can reach me at email@example.com.
